Trash – Clean-Up – Recycle Day

Guidelines: We hope these guidelines are helpful for planning before you arrive at the event. Township Officials and our vendors reserve the right to limit or refuse any and all items the day of event. This event is for Spring Arbor Township residents and not for commercial businesses.  ID’s will be checked at event.

What services are available that day?

This year we will take trash, electronics’ recycling, metal recycling and document shredding will be available. This is a first come first served event. Arrive early and expect a wait. We will stop collecting at 12 noon.  Plan to unload your own material at this event.  If you can’t lift it don’t bring it.

TRASH/RUBBISH:     Material Preparation getting ready for event:

All small material must be in bags or other containers. Loose trailer loads, truckloads may be refused.

Material must be of appropriate size to fit inside the hopper of a garbage truck

ALL liquids must be removed before disposal. We can’t take them!

All containers (pails, drums, boxes) must be unsealed and open for inspection

Due to worker safety items should weigh less than 50 lbs. and be able to be lifted by one person. Any heavy items not able to be handled by one person may be rejected.

ACCEPTED:

Furniture, Mattresses, Appliances (non-Freon-containing or certified Freon was removed)

Scrap Metal all types, including automotive batteries

General Household items (clothes, toys, dishes, etc.)

Latex Paint if solidified. NO liquids

Motorized equipment provided all gas, oil and coolants are removed

Very Small amounts of remodeling waste. Any lumber or long pieces of material must be less than 4’ in length.

TIRES

Yard Waste

Medical Waste

Liquids of any kind including paint, stain, varnish, or any items with hazardous waste label

 

NOT ACCEPTED CONTINUED….

Concrete, masonry materials, dirt or rocks

Asbestos, construction, demolition or roofing materials

Commercial Waste

Propane tanks, unless valve is removed

Flammable or explosive material, Ignitable, corrosive, reactive or toxic materials

Animal carcasses

Electrical Ballasts or tubes from light fixtures

METAL RECYCLING:

Our Fire Department will be collecting ALL types of METAL as a fund raiser. If it’s metal please bring it! This will include auto batteries.

E-Waste Electronic Recycling:

We will be able to offer recycling of electronic items. Computers, Fax machines, keyboards, mice, Tablets, DVD players, VCR’s, Printers, Cell Phones, Stereo Equipment, Scanners, Satellite/Cable Boxes, Cables/cords and wires, Monitors and TV’s of all sizes and types. Great way to dispose of TV’s, computers, etc. There is a suggested donation for TVs and monitors ranging from 5.00 to 12.00 to offset costs.  Let’s keep this material out of our landfills.  E-Waste is open to all.

Document Shredding:

This is a great opportunity to have documents destroyed. Tax returns, bank statements, whatever papers you want destroyed. Come early for this service as they are scheduled from 9 to 11am only.

*****Hazardous material. Liquid material like paints etc. and tires will not be taken at this event. We will post on Face Book when these items can be taken to other Jackson County events for collection later this year.

Location:

*** Our event will be held at Spring Arbor University parking lots between Ogle and Chapel Rds. This is on the north side of M-60. Traffic will enter from Ogle going west into the parking lots for staging. Then proceed to collection vehicles as directed. We can’t allow traffic to back up on M-60 so all traffic should enter Ogle from Second St.  There will be NO entrance to these lots off Chapel. Please follow signs posted that day.
